From the Editor

With my wife Seija, I enjoyed a few days in the Pennines. We were able to walk to the highest point of the Pennines on the Tuesday and to High Cup on the Wednesday. We made new friends one of which is apparently a well known artist whose work is highly valued.

We stayed at the Dufton Youth Hostel and each evening was spent in the common room enjoying an open log fire and children playing games one of which was Monopoly.

It was enjoyable listening to the counting up of the money and assets of each player, which I suppose was the Time of Reckoning. This time of Reckoning decided the final outcome of the game.

There is another great time of reckoning when one who is searching for God suddenly realizes that God is the source of all we are, all we have, and all we will be. Then there is the realization that God’s mercy provides, forgives, heals and saves.

When the writer of Psalm 103:1-5 had this experience, there was great exultation over the faithfulness of God to provide.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

We are in thankfulness, to extend to our neighbour the benefits and blessings we receive from God. Jesus teaches that ‘neighbour’ is every person in any place whose need can be helped by the sharing of our blessings.

This commitment makes John Wesley’s rule for daily living all the more pertinent: “Do all you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, as long as ever you can.

I commend John Wesley’s rule to you when you think of Project KOMERA.
