The Treasurer Tells the Tale
This project has certainly captured the imagination of our District and I have been overwhelmed at the cash that has come in - slowly at first, but now gathering momentum so that we have almost reached our target of £24,000 for the hospital at Kibogora. I recently sent a transfer to Kibogora and the Secretary Sheila mailed back to say "we are all overwhelmed by your generosity. I send a big thank you to you all from all of us at the hospital".
We have raised £25,925.00 for the hospital as well as £5,300 for PHARP so a very big thank you to you all. There is a further £3,000 to come in gift aid.
Money has been raised in many different ways. There has been a sponsored walk around the District by one of our ministers, another entered the Great North Run and we have continuing sales of the CD launched by another. We have received the collection from several farewell and welcome services throughout the District and we are most grateful for those and of course we had the collection from the District Charles Wesley Big Sing at Darlington Street. Donations have been given instead of gifts for a wedding, a 60th birthday, a ruby wedding and a silver wedding. Churches have sent the proceeds of Harvest suppers, a Sankey Evening, a skittles evening and so it goes on, by every post.
Personal donations have also played a very large part in our grand total to date and I have been amazed by the generosity of so many of you within our district. A great number of these have been gift aided, which is a great help.
Cheques should be made out to the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury Methodist District and sent to me either directly or through your church treasurer, should you so wish.
